From SEO glasses to a bird's eye view

Post by Reddi1 »

In order to gain a holistic view from a bird's eye perspective, it is important to look at marketing as a whole. First, here are a few examples of how I would not do it, without wanting to offend the people mentioned, some of whom I value for their SEO expertise.

For example, the article Is online marketing the same as SEO? written by our esteemed colleague Eric Kubitz illustrates the perspective of many SEOs. Because they are SEOs, search engine optimization is the starting point or focus of their thinking. This then results in graphics like this or similar ones:

Published by Eric Kubitz on seo-book.de

Such graphics quickly give the impression that everything belize phone number data revolves around SEO. I know that's not what Eric means, but that's how it seems at first glance. For a social media marketing specialist, the focus would probably be on social, for a content specialist, the content, and for a PR specialist, public relations , depending on your point of view.

I also think that the misunderstanding of many SEOs that content marketing is part of SEO is questionable. I already discussed this in detail in the first part. This one-sided view is fueled by infographics with headings such as "Content Marketing in SEO ". Nice infographic, but a misleading heading. "SEO in Content Marketing" would be more appropriate. A small but important difference.

Even articles like Content Marketing – the new SEO? by our esteemed colleague Lisa Staudt are not an optimal example of how to look at the topic:

You now know that content marketing is the new SEO, but let's say something right away: just because you invest time and money in generating...

Seeing SEO as an important but small part of content marketing and inbound marketing would be the more holistic and objective view.

You can also look at the topic of content marketing from a different perspective. Namely, the way it should be viewed in my opinion. Namely, as a means of corporate communication. The Content Marketing Institute describes it aptly ( What is Content Marketing? ):

Basically, content marketing is the art of communicating with your customers and prospects without selling.

This is not about search engine optimization, but about communication.
