It was founded in December 2019 by Alexis Barreyat and launched in 2020. BeReal is known as the anti-social media influencer app and has been trending since 2022.

The reason?

Its purpose is to create balance and for people to show their real side. That is why it invites users to share images without filters or editing.

Under this approach, BeReal went from having 2 million active users in January 2020 to being the #1 app in the App Store, with more than 29.5 million installations.

To date, BeReal has no advertising and 44% of users (represented by women under 25 years old) agree and that is the key to its success.
