We set up 301 redirects from all URLs that had

Post by Dimaeiya333 »

Once we decided to delete all the content from the weak performing sites, there was some work to be done. We isolated all the URLs that needed to be removed . Then we evaluated each URL to see if it had backlinks or not.

backlinks to preserve the authority coming from those backlinks. We directed these 301s to the most relevant pages for each URL. In the end, 26% of the URLs were 301 redirected.

For the remaining 74% of URLs, we removed the content and set 410 status codes. Unlike a 404, a 410 status code tells Google that the page is no longer active.

We also decided to leave many of the “dead” pages without redir cambodia mobile database ects . We wanted to let Google know that we no longer had content on those topics. The 410 code provided this information to Google even faster than the 404 code. Finally, we crawled the entire site and fixed any internal links that pointed to 301 or 410.

This was all done during the last two weeks of February 2021.

Once we deleted all the pages and set up the necessary redirects, we knew it was a waiting game. Depending on how often Google crawls your site, it may take a while for it to crawl all the deleted pages and re-index the pages on your site that are still active.

If these are significant changes due to all the deleted content, it could easily take until the next update of the core algorithm or even longer.

Of course, we didn’t want to sit back and wait to see what would happen. We had another tool at our disposal to publish more content and a topic that we were now 100% focused on. Over the next five months, we published 30 articles, ranging from informational topics to specific product reviews. During the second quarter of 2021, ratings and traffic continued to slowly erode.

The first Google product update came in April 2021, but the status was unchanged. A few months later, the June 2021 and July 2021 core updates hit, making a big impact. From the low point in May, traffic increased 4.5x due to the June/July core updates. Revenue increased 3x from the previous low.

We were very encouraged by these results. But at the same time, we also noticed that ratings and traffic started to slowly decline when August 2021 came around. This situation was subtle and slow, but we kind of expected it now.

During Q4 2021, we began publishing additional content, publishing a total of 56 articles. The increase began to be seen as early as December 2021. As a fashion site, you could argue that Q4 increased demand. However, we knew that the increase in traffic was matched by an increase in ratings . We launched our third content boost in March 2022 with the goal of publishing 15-20 articles per month. Traffic has now eclipsed its monthly high from July 2021, and May 2022 is on track to be the highest traffic month ever.
