Are you one of those who read food labels before buying them? If your answer is yes, you are part of the vast majority of consumers. 7 out of 10, consult food labels, paying special attention to the expiration and best before dates, the list of ingredients and the conditions of storage and use. This is the conclusion of the study 'Barometer of confidence in the agri-food sector', prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food .
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition defines food labelling as the main means of communication between producers and consumers, constituting a key tool that allows for making an informed decision about the food we buy or consume. Given its importance, it is regulated by both the Ministry and the European Union.
What information should be included on food labels?
As we mentioned, part of what labels must contain is regulated bitcoin data by Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011 on the Provision of Food Information to Consumers. The last major amendment to this regulation was published in September 2018, which introduced important changes.
The mandatory information on packaged products, which must be indicated on the label in a clear, legible manner and in Spanish, is:
Name : Indicates exactly what is being offered. The legal name of the food must be included, and if this does not exist, the usual or descriptive name is used, so that we can know at all times what it is.
