The number of people in the occupied territories has decreased since the last survey in the summer of 2022. This was made possible by the liberation of parts of Kherson, Kherson and Kharkiv regions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To calculate the number of people remaining in the occupied territories, Newage used data from the State Statistics Service on the population of the relevant areas before the deployment of full-scale military aggression and available germany rcs data information on the number of internally displaced persons. According to these calculations, about 4.3 million Ukrainians are currently under occupation.

Over the past year since the previous survey, there have been significant changes in the number of internally displaced persons and those in occupied territories. At the same time, there has been an increase in the number of refugees seeking official protection programs abroad.
