Originating in the United States, “quiet quitting” brings an important reflection regarding the mental health and overwork of employees, as it reinforces that a professional should not work beyond what he or she can , whether outside of office hours, on weekends and holidays, for example, or accumulating extra functions.
Therefore, those who adhere to it do not want to resign, as the term might suggest, but simply to fulfill the service for which they were hired.
“They want to do the minimum necessary to get the job done and establish clear boundaries to improve work-life balance. These employees usually fulfill their professional obligations, but they do not adopt the “work is everything in life” culture to guide their careers and stand out in front of their managers. Usually, when they go home, they leave work behind and focus on tasks and activities that are not related to work,” explains Neidy Christo, consultant at the Career and Employability Center at MMurad FGV.
