The smartphone is likely to become an important sales channel for insurance in the coming years. Although only 6 percent of Germans have taken out insurance via their smartphone so far , one in three (33 percent) can imagine doing so in the future. This is the result of a survey of 1,004 people in Germany aged 18 and over commissioned by the digital association Bitkom.
Among 18- to 29-year-olds, 8 percent have taken out insurance using their smartphone, and 37 percent can imagine doing so. Among 30- to 49-year-olds, 46 percent say the same, and 5 percent already have practical experience with it.
“From shopping to banking, the smartphone is becoming a central platform brazil gambling data everywhere. We will also see the same development in insurance contracts and claims settlement,” says Bitkom President Achim Berg.
One in four (23 percent) would also like to use an app on their smartphone that shows an overview of all insurance policies and the services associated with them. Age also plays a decisive role here. Young people aged 18 to 29 are particularly interested (42 percent), 27 percent of those aged 30 to 49 are interested, 22 percent of those aged 50 to 64 are interested, and only seniors aged 65 and over are somewhat more cautious at 9 percent.
Almost one in five respondents (18 percent) would prefer to handle insurance claims exclusively digitally using a smartphone. Here, too, 18- to 29-year-olds are particularly smartphone-savvy at 30 percent, while the proportion is slightly lower among 30- to 49-year-olds (19 percent) and 50- to 64-year-olds (17 percent). Among seniors aged 65 and over, one in ten (10 percent) would still like to handle claims exclusively using a smartphone.
