Most people did not expect that the pandemic situation would last for such a long period of time. The consequence of this is lasting changes in retail that cannot be completely reversed even after the pandemic is over. We summarize how Corona is affecting the image of city centers and what retailers need to do to continue to run their business successfully in the future.

Christmas shopping and Black Friday in the city center?
Consumers prefer to do their Christmas shopping online . But this is not because local shops are closed, as they were in the spring. But the pandemic situation is causing many people to be cautious. Even Black Friday, which is not only online but also in brick-and-mortar stores , is not leading to consumers going to city centers more often to shop: here too, digitalization is preferred in the shopping sector.

What are the consequences of this trend?
Even if shops are open, that does not mean that they indonesia gambling data will survive the pandemic economically. Because if there are no customers, at some point the bills will no longer be able to be paid. Many shops will therefore disappear - the press spokesman for the German Retail Association even speaks of up to 50,000. Such a situation could lead to city centers becoming deserted if no countermeasures are taken.

In the post-pandemic period, many cities will not be able to return to the way they were before all at once. People's habits are also changing: once the advantages of some online shops have been recognized, they become unbeatable competition for retail - and digitalization continues to advance.
