Definition: What does open source mean?

Post by bhasan01854 »

Open source software means that the source code of the software is freely accessible and available to the public. The source code can therefore be viewed, modified and used by third parties. However, "open source" does not automatically mean "free". Open source technologies are relatively often made available free of charge. The open source principle is generally widespread worldwide.

One of the original ideas revolves around free thinking and free code for everyone out of altruistic motives. The code should be freely available to everyone worldwide and not in the hands of global companies for the purpose of maximizing profits.

Another important factor in the history of open turkey gambling data source projects is the lack of "sponsors"/financiers for development. A large number of successful open source projects were launched as alternatives to the market-dominating software providers. Why? For a simple reason: with the help of open source software, the community sponsors plan to take on large, market-dominating corporations.

Large companies such as Oracle, Sun, Google and Novell support open source projects, which are primarily supported and developed by the community of a large number of developers and smaller companies.
