Leaders break wind resistance so that everyone else following them can fly more efficiently. Without the triangular formation, the birds would never have enough energy to reach the end of their long migration.

But what does this have to do with the "purple cow"?

This is a metaphor used by Godin to make a comparison between the organization of birds and the competitive relationships that exist in the market.

He claims that if we observe the flight of birds carefully, we will see that from time to time one of those at the back turns around and begins to fly ahead, guiding the entire group and giving the previous leader the opportunity to fly behind more calmly.

In the market, the problem lies with entrepreneurs who simply want to sweden phone data follow strategies similar to those of their competitors without taking any risks.

They wait for some leader to come up with an innovative idea and then rush to copy it, taking advantage of the breaking of the wind resistance.

The problem with people who avoid a remarkable career or business is that they never take command, they never break the resistance of the wind. In doing so, they never become leaders.

Thinking in terms of career, these are the people who decide to work in a large organization and intentionally function as an anonymous drone, guarding themselves against risk and criticism. If they make a mistake and choose the wrong bird to follow, they lose.

When a big company fires ten thousand people, most of them probably don't deserve to be fired. They were doing what they were told to do, following instructions. They were following their bird wrong!
