I constantly encounter the fact that customers do not fully understand what a B2B platform is and what they want to solve with its help. I will say right away: a B2B e-commerce platform is something more than a retail online store. It combines many complex business processes of a manufacturing or wholesale company. The customer does not always understand this, and as a result, a number of erroneous requirements are obtained. The most common of them is: "We want to trade wholesale and retail, let's make a single wholesale and retail online store."
The wholesale-retail model of online business (B2B/B2C e-commerce) in one “bottle”, in my opinion, does not work. Wholesale and retail are two different businesses, respectively, two different projects. Of course, there are exceptions, but they rather confirm this rule. Do not confuse B2B sales with a retail store that sells to corporate clients. In our understanding, a B2B project is the sale of goods to its distributors or wholesalers for resale or production purposes. A good example of this approach is the Komus company. Retail sales for end customers (individuals or companies) occur through the komus.ru website, and the company works with its distributors on the komus-opt.ru website.
