What I especially missed Definition?

Post by Bappy11 »

in the book was White's definition of an intranet. What is an intranet anyway? Doesn't an intranet simply consist of all the web services offered within a company, integrated or not? If this is the case, I don't understand why White sets intranet, social media and collaboration against each other in this way. I see it as one thing, with multiple facets. As Jane McConnell calls it: the Web Workplace.

But that doesn't take away from the fact that White gives us a lot of educational material. The nice thing about a book is that it is in one volume. You can also really use the book as a manual. Take the parts that you need at that moment and then put it back on the shelf.

Business cases
What White says about business cases around intranet I found particularly good. Beware of the focus on netherlands phone number list numbers and objective data. Make sure you sell the story about your intranet first, the numerical substantiation will follow. He provides numerous tools to then also draw up that substantiation. For example: do not necessarily write a business case for your entire intranet, but for certain elements of it. That is often easier. And ask users what the value of the intranet is instead of coming up with it yourself. And keep the business case alive. A business case is an iterative process.
