Since Stephen Covey published his self-help bestseller “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People ” in 1989 , much has been written on this topic. I thought it would be interesting to review these ideas at a time when we are plagued by tasks that consume much of our energy and make us lose focus on what is really important.

Sometimes, being as productive as we would like to be is not easy because we interrupt our concentration quite frequently.

Get a good night's sleep . Each of us has a minimum number of hours of rest that we need without which we are not at 100%. So, try to get the amount of sleep you need and reset your mind and body to start the day with your batteries fully charged.
Part of the energy you need can be found in a good breakfast . Take a few minutes to prepare the first meal of the day, with vitamins and as healthy as possible.
Once you are at your desk, organize your day . You must be clear about the day's objectives and not lose sight of them, even when unexpected tasks come your way.
Plan and prioritize . Differentiate between what is urgent and what is important and get things done that you know needs to be done first.

If meetings take up a large part of your work day, prepare them in advance, think about their purpose and get the work done so that they are not unproductive and last only as long as necessary.
Email can be your enemy. Set times when you will check it, don't let it interrupt you at every turn, and don't ask to be copied on everything that happens in the office .
Don't try to do everything at once . How many times have you found yourself saying, I start a thousand things and I don't finish anything? You are giving yourself a clue as to where the problem is. There are things that you can tackle at the same time, but don't start other tasks without finishing the truly important ones.
Routines are good for getting organized. Trying to schedule meetings at the same time and frequency, establishing breaks throughout the day, breaks for lunch, etc. are small habits that will also help you.
At the end of the day, try to unwind . Routines are also effective here. Schedule exercise sessions or activities that excite you on the same days of the week and at the same time. This will help you unwind and prepare for the next day.
