How to find out if someone has blocked you on Instagram

It's a real blessing that Instagram and other social networks don't send notifications when someone blocks you (or you block someone) because there would be a lot of angry, furious, sad, and disappointed people.

Why do people block each other in the first place? Of course, there's always the possibility that the person in question has deactivated or deleted their profile, but in case they haven't, here are some ways to find out if you've been blocked.

Search for a person using a search engine
The easiest way to find out if someone has blocked you is to search for that person using the Instagram search engine. Simply type the profile name of the person you are looking for into the search engine and one of the following will happen.

If you can see the profile and all posts, then you are not blocked if the person has a public and open profile. If they have a private profile and you are not following them, then you will see a message like this informing you that the profile is private and that you can follow them.

If you see the person's profile, number of followers, profile picture, and number of posts published, but the profile says there are no posts, then you have been blocked.

However, if none of the above appear when you search, then the person has most likely deleted their profile. Fortunately, there are some other methods you can use to further check what's going on.

Check the profile via comments
When someone blocks you, Instagram doesn't delete their comments and tags, so this is the quickest way to check. Just find an old comment the person left you, click on their name, and you'll be taken to that person's profile.

If that doesn't work, the person has almost certainly deleted their profile. If you see an image like the one above, you've been blocked.

Find the profile username via the link
You can search for a person's profile on any browser using the link Instagram.com/username, replacing username with the exact profile name. You probably know the exact name of the profile you're looking for, so there shouldn't be a problem.

If you are logged into your profile and the person has blocked you, you will receive this message and confirm your suspicions that you have been blocked.
