Last Sunday, July 15, Microsoft Inspire 2018 began in Las Vegas , USA. This event, held annually to bring together all its partners , commemorates the beginning of Microsoft's new fiscal year and serves to give the first glimpse of the main innovations in its products and services. From ARBENTIA, as every year, we want to bring you closer to the events we have experienced at one of the events of the year, in which 17,000 people from more than 140 countries have participated .
Microsoft Inspire 2018 Highlights
Since the launch of Microsoft 365 at Inspire 2017 in Washington overseas chinese in canada data last year, the platform now has more than 135 million monthly commercial users of Office 365, 200 million commercial devices on Windows 10, and more than 65 million Enterprise Mobility + Security seats.
Among the main innovations presented this year at Inspire 2018 , we highlight the following:
Microsoft Teams Free : This version allows for unlimited chat and search; live video calls and conferences for meetings, interviews, etc.; 10 GB of team file storage and 2 GB of personal storage; interconnected content creation with Office Online (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and One Note); over 140 business applications (Adobe, Evernote, Trello); the ability to communicate and collaborate remotely with anyone inside and/or outside the organization securely.
Smart Events : A new update for Microsoft 365 has been designed to include Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all its processes and allows the creation of live and on-demand events, which can be viewed in real time, in high definition and with an online chat. Thanks to AI services, facial recognition allows focusing on the person who is speaking during the event; simultaneously transcribing voice to text and including subtitles to reach more audiences.
Workplace Analytics : an application that aims to facilitate efficient meetings, optimize time and respect the boundaries between work and leisure. The solution uses valuable information in conjunction with Microsoft Graph.
Microsoft Whiteboard : is a digital whiteboard that provides the ability to create and work together across multiple devices. Using the pen, touch, and keyboard, you can make notes, create tables and shapes, draw freehand, and search and insert images from the web.
New cloud, app, and data technologies —including Azure Data Box Disk, Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Firewall, and more.
eBooks : In addition to new technologies, new Digital Transformation eBooks and practice building guides were presented .
Corenotes from Microsoft's top executives
Thousands of partners packed T-Mobile Arena to hear Corenotes from top Microsoft executives, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella , President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith , Executive Vice President of Worldwide Commercial Business Judson Althoff , Corporate Vice President of One Commercial Partner Gavriella Schuster , and more.
We learned about new industry-specific solutions, strategies to help partners attract new customers and scale their businesses, and training and coaching opportunities. Plus, for the first time, Satya Nadella delivered a shared Corenote to Microsoft Inspire and Microsoft Ready attendees , creating a more united One Microsoft than ever before.
For his part, Judson Althoff summarized the progress since Satya Nadella's Keynote just one year ago :
“The intelligent cloud and intelligent advantage are real, it’s here and it’s now. Intelligent capabilities will enable us to shape the world of computing for the next decade . This new wave of computing, intelligent cloud and intelligence will shape everything we build together for the future.”
In her opening remarks, Gavriella Schuster highlighted the tremendous growth of Dynamics 365 (the cloud-based CRM and ERP system combined with Microsoft) with a figure of 65% in the first three quarters of fiscal year 2018 alone. In this regard, Judson Althoff highlighted: “There is no better place to invest today than Dynamics 365 – we have never had a stronger year than last in business applications, and it will only be usurped this year and the years to come.”
Although Microsoft restructured its business model a year ago by dividing its sales groups into two categories ( Enterprise and Small/Medium/Corporate ), Judson Althoff assured that there is no better classification system and that it will remain constant throughout the new fiscal year 2019.
Focus areas for next year include “digging even deeper” across all strategic enterprise accounts and taking on new challenges in new organizations.
Judson Althoff outlined the strategy for attracting more customers to the Microsoft cloud through its partners. The solution is primarily to invest more in “tailored marketing” to customers so that Microsoft can provide feedback based on context .
Summing up, Gavriella Schuster said Microsoft and its partners have had “an incredible year together” and have seen strong growth in areas such as Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365 over the past 12 months.
If there has been one key fact, it is the growth that partners have experienced and that, due to this phenomenon, an even more promising new year is expected.
Corenote Satya Nadella Microsoft Inspire 2018
This year, Microsoft Inspire attendees had to wait until Wednesday to hear Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s Corenote session. But it was worth the wait. Satya presented his vision for the new fiscal year to a packed crowd at T-Mobile Arena. For the first time, Satya Nadella delivered a shared Corenote between Microsoft Inspire and Microsoft Ready attendees , creating a more united One Microsoft than ever before.
During Satya Nadella’s keynote last year, he announced Microsoft 365 to the world. Without any announcements of this scale to make, Satya focused on presenting a unified view of the past year’s accomplishments and the strategic vision going forward. Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of talk about the opportunity facing Microsoft and its partners. But perhaps more attention was paid to the responsibility that comes hand-in-hand with that opportunity.
