Advantages and points to note about services

Post by ishanijerin1 »

From an infrastructure perspective, the advantage is of course the ease of overall operation, including support. You can outsource even normal operational tasks such as version upgrades, patch application, and backups, so you can focus on "using PIM". One thing to note is that some overseas chinese in worldwide data overseas chinese in worldwide data PIM products have restrictions on settings and customization, and there may be restrictions on external interfaces. For example, if the interface with a system developed in-house is a special method, it may be necessary to prepare a separate mechanism such as ETL in between when linking. When using a PIM product that is available as a service, it is effective to take an approach where you consider how to achieve the goal within the product's functions.

Personally, I am looking forward to the development of PIM products that are service-based and highly flexible and customizable, but at the moment it is important to choose on-premise/cloud/service based on your requirements.

Systematization approach to external interfaces
Next, let's consider an approach to systematization by focusing on external interfaces such as integration with ERP and EC.

In PIM systems, external interfaces are often the key to requirements and customization. Systems that provide data to a PIM system (hereafter, linked systems) include ERPs, while systems that receive data from a PIM system (hereafter, linked systems) include CMSs and EC packages, but because interface specifications differ depending on the application and vendor, how to realize this part is a major consideration in systemization.

Generally speaking, there are three main ways to achieve data integration:

① Push type

This is a method in which the source system pushes data. The source system is responsible for processes such as selecting the target, formatting the data, and controlling the timing of the link. If the destination system has an interface that can directly receive data, the data is fed into it.

It is similar to an FTP server, in that data is collected and formatted in the source system and then imported directly into the destination system.
