Phases for project management
At Seocom we work on SEO projects based on the PMI guidelines, which divide the projects into 5 phases:
Phase 1. How to know if a project is viable
To lay the foundations for the project, it is necessary to understand what is being asked, what the main objective is , and whether we have the necessary resources to carry it out. The importance of this first stage is to determine whether the project is viable, since if not, it could be a failure for the company.
To determine the viability of the project at this stage, it is important to analyze the project well and identify its strengths and weaknesses.
To obtain this information, at Seocom we carry out a benchmark analysis of each new client to understand which sector we are in, who we compete against, we carry out a keyword study , and in this way we can determine where to focus the project to get the most out of it.
Knowing which aspects of the project need to be worked on allows us to establish an SEO strategy and determine the project KPIs we want to achieve. And when we have this, we can move on to planning.
Phase 2. Project planning
In this second phase we must detail the tasks defined in the project strategy . And once we have each task down, we plan them in time.
We must take into account that each project is unique and has its own international email database characteristics: project life cycle, knowledge management, communication of benefits, seasonality... Therefore, they must be limited in time and have a beginning and an end.
At this point it is essential to be clear about what equipment you will need for the project.
We generally find that an SEO project will also require a development and analytics department and even a content team , since many tasks will be shared.

Phase 3. Project execution

project reality.
In this phase we carry out the execution of the project.
The Project Manager assigns the planned tasks according to the resources we have available.
The work environment and necessary tools are made available to the team.
The team begins the execution of these tasks
Phase 4. Monitoring and control of work
In this phase, the Project Manager reviews the progress of the project. Whether the planning is being met, whether the tasks have the quality agreed with the client, whether the budget has not suffered any discrepancies or cost overruns on tasks, etc.
And on the other hand, we must maintain constant communication with the client to inform them of progress.
At Seocom, the Project Manager acts as a link between all the parties involved in a project. This allows for a global view of the entire project and the ability to get the most out of the entire team.
This is why, in this phase, the Project Manager is responsible for:
Keep track of planned tasks;
Management of deliverables;
Reception and management of any incidents that may have arisen and search for solutions with the team involved;
Generating monitoring reports using automated tools
And all this monitoring and control of tasks can be carried out in an agile manner if we rely on project management tools that make this work easier for us.
5. Closing the project
The final step in digital project management is project evaluation and closure . As we mentioned at the beginning, each project has unique characteristics and needs.
That is why a strategy is defined at the beginning, and when the project has come to an end, we must analyse how its execution has developed, whether the objectives and expectations set at the beginning with the client have been met. And all of this should involve constant learning.
