Earlier this year, we published an article about Meta's new social network , which officially launched in the European Union on December 14, 2023 — half a year after its global launch on July 5, 2023. We're talking about Threads, of course — an app integrated with Instagram that aims to enable users to build an engaged community and engage in discussions on a variety of topics .

Threads creators announce further development of the platform
Threads is the newest social media platform from Meta, which celebrated its first birthday in July 2024. The app has been widely available in the European market since December 2023.
On August 15, 2024, the creators of Threads officially introduced several changes that are intended to make the portal easier to use not only for regular users, but also for businesses and professional creators.
However, paid advertising is still not available on Threads.
The first new feature is to provide portal users with access to a panel with statistics such as audience demographics and overall profile reach.
Another option is the ability to save up to 100 draft entries for an unlimited period of time.
The third new feature is the schedule, i.e. the availability of scheduling posts on Threads several days in advance.
The Threads application was intended from the very beginning to be (and was perceived as) competition for X (formerly Twitter). This is all due to the similar format, purpose and similar mechanism of operation of these two services. Both platforms create a space for a quick exchange of thoughts and opinions between users. However, there are significant differences between these two portals that affect the user experience. One of them has been the character limit per entry from the very beginning, which affects, among other things, the form of communication chosen and the complexity of the posted statements. Another significant difference is the inability to send private messages on Threads - instead, Instagram, to which the Threads application was supposed to be an addition, offers an extended version of chat.

Recently, however, the creators of Threads decided to introduce an important function , which until now was an advantage of X - namely, insight into the panel with statistics of our profile. The introduction of this possibility ukraine phone numbers allows users to better understand their activity on the platform, gives the ability to monitor the engagement and popularity of specific entries or topics discussed .

This move by the app creators definitely shows that Threads is growing , contrary to the initial assumptions or speculations of many skeptics. We always emphasize that social media is constantly evolving, offering users new features to attract and retain them. That is why it is so important to constantly keep your finger on the pulse. As part of this, together with you, we want to take a closer look at the new possibilities on Threads today !

1. Threads Analytics Service
As mentioned above, the biggest new feature in Threads is giving users access to their stats dashboard . This option is currently only available on desktop computers . Now, you can view key metrics that show your account’s performance and audience engagement.

In Threads Analytics we can see:

number of views,
account coverage,
total number of likes, replies, shares and quotes,
growth of the number of followers in the form of a graph,
audience demographics (location, age, gender).

Access to statistics means new possibilities not only for ordinary users, but also for professionals. Analytics not only allows for more precise direction in which personal accounts on Threads should be developed. It is especially important for marketers and influencers who run advertising campaigns for various brands - thanks to this, creators finally have the opportunity to determine their reach, engagement and the groups they reach on this service. Now you can review precise data regarding Threads specifically, and not draw assumptions based only on Instagram statistics. As Meta states in an announcement on August 15:

These metrics can help creators and businesses understand what content resonates best with their audience so they can better tailor their future posts.
For now, paid ads like we know from Facebook and Instagram are not available on Threads , which certainly means that there is a large group of people who prefer this social networking site… But perhaps the introduction of Threads Analytics is the first step towards providing the possibility of paid promotion. Time will tell.

2. Drafts
The second new feature the app’s creators are introducing is the advanced ability to save drafts of your posts . The feature was announced under the slogan “Leave No Great Idea Behind,” which is meant to reflect its purpose and potential. As Meta says:

Sometimes a great idea takes a few tries, especially when you have more than one idea. We're introducing the ability to write and save multiple drafts in Threads before sharing them with your followers. Now you can save up to 100 of your best ideas for as long as you want, and publish them when you're ready.
The first steps involving the creation of drafts appeared in March of this year , but at that time the service allowed only one such entry at a time . Now , as we can see, this option has been significantly expanded - it is possible to save up to 100 publications in drafts - that's a lot.

While the whole idea of Threads is to have engaged discussions about current topics and respond to them quickly, the goal of the new feature is to support users in the creation process by allowing them to refine and think through their content. Indeed, for some creators, especially those who are working on several threads at once, the expanded option of saving drafts can be a big help.

3. Post scheduling
The third option , somewhat related to saving drafts, is the ability to schedule posts . This feature also supports creators in the creative process and helps manage their profile in a thoughtful and strategic way. Users who use other Meta services, especially those who run their accounts professionally, are very familiar with the scheduler feature from the Meta Business panel . It helps creators and companies maintain consistency in their communication and plan publications even almost a month in advance.

For now, the scheduling function in Threads is not part of the Meta Business panel, nor is it that extensive — it allows you to schedule a publication a few days in advance at most . However, it can be assumed that the time limit is intentional and related to the slightly different nature of the platform. As we emphasized earlier, Threads is a fast-paced and dynamic service, focusing on more spontaneous and ongoing communication. The creators of the application certainly also want to develop in users the habit of logging in to the service and regularly visiting other profiles. Despite this, scheduling posts even a short, several-day advance, may prove very practical for many creators, especially when we care about a specific time of publication, and we know that we do not have the opportunity to be online at that time.

Threads creators announce further development of the platform
For now, these are all the officially introduced changes. However, the creators of the application announce that they will not rest on their laurels. Although only a year has passed since the debut of Threads, the portal has gathered 200 million active users per month . It is not yet on par with the competition - the giant X, which can boast about 250 million active users per day. Despite this, the number of Threads users (after an initial decline, which could be noticed even before the European premiere) is growing and the application has recently really been gathering a permanent base of devoted regulars . This fact is not surprising, especially since more and more people, for various reasons, are looking for an alternative to X (formerly Twitter).
