Too many links on Homepage and Menu

Post by shaownhasan »

In addition to the URL structure issues, another factor that needed to be addressed was the number of links found on a page; this was, in part, a site-wide issue. For example, the menu had over 400 links . The footer (footer menu) contained 42. This number of links is far more than a person is likely to use. It was clear that a large portion of these links were not being used enough to make it worthwhile to incorporate them into the menu or footer.

By crawling the site we also identified several pages, including the homepage, with over 100 links.

The more links a page has, including the menu, the less internal PageRank each of why purchase dentist database from us those links passes. It is also indicative of a confusing site structure.

Overall, it was clear that there were serious issues with the internal linking strategy the site had implemented. This strategy affected how Google indexed the site, as well as causing a negative user experience for site visitors.

Additional problems
Through the site audit, several other issues were identified. Some would not impact the website architecture, but if fixed would improve organic rankings. Below is an overview of some of the key factors we had to address:

Robot text file: Thousands of tags were used on the site. Most of them had only a few pieces of content associated with them. Additionally, there was an opportunity to optimize crawl budget by denying bots access to the site; this had the potential to increase page speed.
Metadata Improvement : Some metadata could be reviewed and improved to increase organic click-through rates.
Page Load Time: There was an opportunity to improve page load time. Again, this is a ranking factor for Google.
Domain “Relic” Pages: After analyzing the server logs, we identified a number of pages on the domain that were now obsolete, and were experiencing a lot of Google Bot activity; this was far from ideal. The presence of activity could mean that these expired pages were still appearing in search results.
