What has it meant to you that Forbes has recognized you as one of the 30 most promising talents in Spain under 30 years old ?
An honour, although I am sure there are other people in Spain who deserve it as much or more than me.
The “30 Under 30” list recognizes the most innovative and inspiring young people in our country who have a mission to change the world. Where do you think this change is happening?
My opinion is that, in the future, it will probably be entrepreneurs who will lead society to the detriment of politicians and large corporations. This change is beginning to be observed globally, and to a lesser extent in Spain. As technology, communications and the Internet in general advance, it is easier to start a business project in sectors traditionally dominated by a few companies (agriculture, energy, telecommunications, banking). The question is how long it will take to reach this scenario of real and healthy competition. My personal opinion, which of course may be wrong, is that in order to speed up this process, the levels of regulation in all sectors should be reduced, as well as the weight of the State and political power in general. According to the economist Juan Ramón Rallo, 500,000 pages of new laws are generated in Spain every year. This only benefits large corporations, with sufficient resources to adapt, and represents an almost insurmountable barrier to entry for new entrepreneurs who in many cases have new interesting proposals for consumers. It also supports the control of public institutions and the State over all economic activities. In my view, a market model of real competition is more desirable, where public institutions exert the minimum possible influence and act as mere observers.
